Panel Overview

The shroud of the dark side has fallen! Join us as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, the movie that not only introduced a lightsaber-wielding Yoda, a coming-of-age Anakin Skywalker, and clones, it also ushered in a new era of digital cinema, which two decades later has become an industry standard. Special guests and behind-the-scenes content will be revealed in this can’t-miss commemoration of the 2002 epic.

Panel Recap

The Attack of the Clones 20th Anniversary Celebration honored the 2002 film as both a major chapter in the Skywalker saga and a landmark in digital cinema. Hosted by Ashley Eckstein, the panel brought together actors and behind-the-scenes creatives to reflect on the making and legacy of Episode II.

George Lucas appeared in a recorded video greeting, where he reflected on the importance of Attack of the Clones as the first major feature shot digitally. The in-person discussion covered C-3PO’s return to the Lars homestead, Anthony Daniels’ cameo as Dannl Faytonni, the design lineage connecting Jango Fett’s armor to clone troopers and stormtroopers, Temuera Morrison’s experience joining Star Wars as Jango Fett, and Daniel Logan’s memories of playing young Boba Fett.

The creative team also discussed the film’s combination of digital effects and miniature work, as well as Matthew Wood’s sound design for the Geonosians and other sequences. The panel ended with a major surprise appearance by Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, bringing the conversation back to the central Obi-Wan and Anakin relationship and the renewed affection fans had shown for the prequel era.
