Phil Tippett helped define Star Wars creature and animation effects, from the dejarik holochess creatures in A New Hope to the tauntauns and AT-AT walkers of The Empire Strikes Back and the creature work of Return of the Jedi. His stop-motion, go-motion, and creature effects work became a major part of the saga’s visual effects legacy.
