The XXTreme Droid Challenge was a more competitive R2-D2 Builders event built around droid operation, obstacles and performance under pressure. It showed off the technical skill of builders who had created remote-controlled astromechs capable of moving through a convention environment. The event gave attendees a chance to see droids as functional fan engineering projects rather than display pieces. It also celebrated the playful rivalry inside the builders community, where precision, durability and showmanship mattered as much as screen accuracy.
