Panel Overview
A collecting presentation on unlicensed and unofficial Star Wars toys produced around the world during the first three decades of the franchise. The session covered the crude materials, unusual sculpting, inaccurate characters, improvised packaging and regional manufacturing quirks that make bootlegs important artifacts of Star Wars collecting. The panel treated these objects as evidence of how far the films reached beyond licensed toy markets. It also explained why many bootlegs existed in countries or communities where official Kenner, Hasbro or licensed products were unavailable, too expensive or unevenly distributed. Collectors used the session to distinguish novelty value from rarity, condition and provenance.
