The first Official Star Wars Fan Film Awards were presented at Celebration II. The awards recognized fan-made Star Wars parodies, documentaries, mockumentaries, animated films and shorts. The contest was sponsored by Lucasfilm and AtomFilms, with roughly 250 films submitted and 44 finalists selected.

The 2002 winners included Christmas Tauntauns for the George Lucas Selects Award, Star Wars Gangsta Rap for Audience Choice, Jar Jar’s Walking Papers for Best Animation, Waiting for Jar Jar for Best Documentary, SW Project for Best Mockumentary, Figure Club for Spirit of Fandom, Sparring Program for Young Jedi, Stargeeks for Best Comedy, A New Dope for Best Short Subject and Troops for the Pioneer Award.
