Unmasking the Stranger

Host Kristin Baver welcomes actor Manny Jacinto to the stage, celebrating his fan-favorite role as The Stranger from The Acolyte. Baver notes that the last time Jacinto attended a Celebration event in London, he had to be secretive about his character. Jacinto expresses relief at finally being able to talk openly, noting that he had to keep the secret of his villainous turn for two and a half years.

Creating a New Villain

When asked what made the character resonate with fans, Jacinto credits the team’s desire to take a risk and bring something different to the franchise. He explains that they wanted the character to feel rooted in the original trilogy, with physical props, puppets, and intense fight choreography. He praises the vocal, movement, and stunt coaches who helped him train for the role.

Fond Memories from Set

Jacinto reflects on filming The Acolyte, comparing his first day on set to walking into Disneyland but a thousand times more exciting. He cherishes every moment of production, from the opening cantina scene to the one-versus-five forest battle and the final moment looking out at the sea while holding hands with Amandla Stenberg.

Seeing the Fans

The conversation shifts to the fan response, particularly cosplay. Jacinto marvels at the dedication of fans who have already built detailed handcrafted replicas of his costume and mask. Having worn the suit himself, he jokes that he knows how hot, sweaty, and difficult it is to see out of it.

A Special Gift

Baver recalls a previous conversation where Jacinto admitted he never stole a prop from the set because he was too afraid of Disney security. To make up for it, Baver presents him with the first Hasbro replica helmet of The Stranger. Jacinto is thrilled, turning on the helmet’s lights and putting it on for the crowd.
