The use of prosthetic hands and limbs in Star Wars is a common theme and one that is very relevant to our world today. Students will engineer a robotic hand out of everyday items and will test it by lifting a lightsaber as a way of replicating Luke’s prosthetic hand from the Empire Strikes Back. This lesson can be used to test knowledge of forces and gravity on joints in the human body.
