“From Staples to Stitches” is an opportunity for fans of the more niche aspects of Star Wars, such as the many different comic book series, to celebrate their interests. With almost 30 years of cosplay experience among the panelists, this will be an opportunity for those new to cosplay, and those experienced, to learn about the cosplay making and designing process and what it’s like to take a character that exists only in a few panels or pages and bring them to life. Some of our points of discussion include difficulties in translating drawings to physical clothes, difficulties in art inconsistencies, style choices, and the tradeoff of accuracy versus reality by using specific examples of comic cosplays. This will be an opportunity for those new to cosplay, and those experienced, to learn about the cosplay making and designing process and what it’s like to take a character that exists only in a few panels or pages and bring them to life.
