Panel Overview
Executive producer Sanne Wohlenberg takes the stage to discuss the upcoming Disney+ series “Andor”, specifically addressing the dark and gritty tone established in the newly released trailer. Drawing on her previous experience producing intense dramas like “Chernobyl” and “Black Mirror”, Wohlenberg explains that darkness has always been an inherent part of the Star Wars mythos. The new series spans 12 episodes and serves as a deep character exploration, beginning five years before the events of “Rogue One”. Wohlenberg details how the story will showcase a galaxy suffocating under the spreading tentacles of the Empire, focusing on an era defined by danger, deception, and political intrigue. She highlights how fans will finally see the grueling, down and dirty reality of the early rebellion. The narrative will track Cassian Andor’s transformation from a broken survivor into the dedicated rebel who ultimately gives his life for the cause. Furthermore, Wohlenberg discusses the return of Mon Mothma, noting that the character is in a vastly different position. Instead of acting as an established rebel leader, Mon Mothma is still operating within the Galactic Senate, attempting the dangerous task of fighting the autocracy from the inside. Wohlenberg politely declines to confirm any other legacy character cameos, keeping the show’s secrets tightly under wraps while expressing immense pride in the production.
